If you run a UK-based fediverse instance, worth noting you now have 11 weeks to do a risk assessment and become compliant. If you're interested in a compliance training session with ofcom, doing some collective bargaining on compliance terms, or just finding out more about what's going on, this newsletter may be of interest https://buttondown.com/indie-and-community-web-compliance-/archive/1-quick-update-and-request-for-info/

@rachelcoldicutt oh, thank you Rachel! I'm signed up already, but will make sure i spread the word! (Unsure where the whole thing leaves me as a UK-citizen but EU-resident fediverse operator, but exactly why I'm following along very keenly). Thanks so much for all your work on this!

@eaterofsnacks @mistertim @rachelcoldicutt dunno. I guess it's the same issue as the GDPS stuff from the EU. The regimes are trying to stop opt-outs of laws by virtue of the companies being elsewhere, at the cost of making it really bloody difficult for small providers.

@amyworrall @mistertim @rachelcoldicutt Ah, does this work in parallel to similar EU legislation?

@eaterofsnacks @mistertim @rachelcoldicutt I meant they’re both bits of legislation that claim to apply to companies based outside the country with the relevant law
