Jokes aside, this would probably be devastating for people. Imagine having a small startup that is just starting to make it when the AI slop says "lol, this is a total scam" based on easily disproved information, and everyone else saying they're a game changer.

@tonroosendaal Plausible bullshit generators going brrrr will do irreparable damage to people's ability to find useful information and learn online.

Expecting people to leverage their media literacy to help recognise generated BS is like hoping to plug a hole in a municipal sewage pipe with a kitchen sieve.

The saddest part is regularly hearing "I use ChatGPT/ instead of search, it's so useful!" from tech-savy people who are supposed to know better :sadness:
