@tassoman I used to be on team var_dump() for many years, until I saw the light and switch to #Xdebug. Iβm not sure how I ever wrote code without a step debugger before!

You are clearly tying to drive answers! π€£

@tassoman Nope! Iβm trying to drive folks voting and not using a step debugger to start using a step debugger and see how much time it can save them. π

@ramsey @tassoman Same for me...
Without xdebug and phpunit there is no coding in PHP. ;-)

@tassoman Usually print_r() but I've added some code to display if something's false, null, or 0. I learned about var_export() relatively recently, and maybe if I'd known about it earlier I'd use it more.
Most of my #PHP dev work is in #WordPress, in case that helps your dataΒΉ collection.

@pjohanneson @tassoman If you don't want to setup a proper debugger like Xdebug, at least using var_dump() is a must. It's made for exactly this use-case.

@tassoman Once you go XDebug you never go back

@tassoman symfony var dumper, 'dd' and 'dump' and you can run a server on the terminal to get dumps for web requests and workers if needed.

@tassoman and honestly feel like I'm faster than the person clicking through tiny GUI widgets, setting breakpoints, stepping through and unfolding variables (whoops, let's start again). Bam - I'm done π

@tassoman Mostly xdebug, supplemented by var_dump in some cases of when xdebug breaks periodically.

Wait, you said var_dump is much pro than xdebug? π
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from tassoman@orwell.fun
@tassoman No, xdebug is better 95% of the time. But sometimes I need a dump instead.
