Quick review GK3 vs GK5 pickups (into GM-800): There's not a lot in it. The GK-5 is marginally better, in that I get fewer (almost no) ghost notes. But if you have good technique then I suspect you will hardly ever have that problem.

Conclusion: GM-800 is great and you don't need a GK5 to get the best from it. Favourite feature is 'carry-over' - you can play a note and change the patch and the existing note will carry on in the old sound until it finishes, while new sounds get the new patch

The GM-800 tracking is vastly superior to the SY-1000 and quite a bit better than the GR-55 even on guitar, but especially for my Cantini violin.

@chrissie_c Thanks for this. I see similar results. The GM-800 is the first guitar-to-midi unit where it feels to me like you can just play naturally... IMO, it even tracks better than the FTP.
