I flagged this when it happened to me in beta, and nothing changed, because it can’t change, right? It can’t tell. I’m heavily leaning towards Apple Intelligence being a genuine security risk for all users…

That said, I do like it when it’s so wrong it’s funny. But it once summarized a conversation with @mantia, where we were both praising John Williams’ christmas music, as us saying his music was “overrated”, and frankly that is UNACCEPTABLE

@cabel Not to excuse anyone (I agree that the Apple Intelligence-based 'priority emails' is a security risk) but I don't think it's because "scam strings" or not.
From the email point of view, the email is legitimate. Everything about the email is trusted. The problem for this specifically lies in Paypal.

@joshhunt Yeah that’s a good point. But I’ve had it prioritize scam emails that were absolutely not legitimate or from real servers!

@cabel @mantia I’m glad the summary is wrong because I would have IMMEDIATELY ended my friendship with Louie.

@ogden @mantia Accurate!! Now to be fair the LLM (Large Louie Mantia) is maybe trained on loving complaints but in this case it should know better!!

@cabel @mantia If there’s not a John Williams Exception applied to this LLM, what are we even doing?

@cabel @mantia OUCH THIS IS BAD

@cabel I’ve been getting a ton of these! Really hard to tell they’re fake.

@cabel also incredibly frustrating this is coming via Microsoft’s servers, because Microsoft is the one whose email server will not accept emails from mine. I get a 6-month exemption every 6 months without them ever telling me anything else my mail server could do differently. Yet they’re the ones sending me spam multiple times per day!

@cabel It feels like a huge misstep for Apple, the company that protects its brand and customers more than any other. It is relinquishing control and opening itself up to a huge influx of random bullshit.
Can’t help but think that a product liability lawsuit is in their future.

@chockenberry @cabel The stock Mail app automatically opens a new email instead of returning you to the list of email. No option to change that (FB10280669).
You can also clear away any and all notification without a phone or iPad being unlocked! Pretty crazy that anyone can do that without even authenticating (FB15166083).
I’m pretty sure Apple’s stance on “Security” is only for show.
