Tri Carragh - Glen Elgin 12, 55.5% abv, NC, NCF.
A wonderful offering from Edinburgh IBs Tri Carragh. Distilled in 2011 and transferred to a 1st fill Tawny Port Cask in 2022 for 15 months.
Black cherry compote, blackcurrants and raspberries. Sweet barley sugar and dark chocolate. First sip and it's more of the same - lots of it. A few drops of water release gentle floral notes and a touch of liquorice and mint. A lovely long finish with lingering cinnamon spice and orange zest.
This is dram #13 in my whisky advent calendar.
