Disney finally made a Star Wars that I want to watch and that I like.
"Skeleton Crew" on Disney+ is adorbs.

With it billions of dollars, Disney, and previously LucasFilm, were incapable of using their Star Wars IP into something fun, interesting, and exciting.
Everything since Jedi IMO has been either self-serious or ridiculously introspective.
Mandolorian came close to being fun—until it started taking itself seriously. Why?

Skeleton Crew is a bunch of sheltered suburbanites lost in the Star Wars galaxy. And it takes itself exactly as seriously as that premise demands.

I's odd to me that a primarily children's entertainment company took this long to make a Star Wars that is fun for all ages. It's not like they don't have a braintrust the size of a planet to fall back on.
Probably the self-serious and highly toxic Star Wars fandom had something to do with it.
Those basement dwellers shat bricks over A Solo Story.

@vincent A Solo Story was objectively bad! Bad!

@fuzzykb You think so? I thought it was fine. It wasn't Rogue One, but it wasn't the prequels either.
I thought the plot was pretty good. At least it was coherent. There were a few fan service scenes that we could have done without. Like most SW properties post Jedi*, it took itself so serious. It's a fucking Han Solo original story, overpaid writers. Stop overthinking it.

@vincent Between Solo being badly miscast and the whole movie feeling like it was a studio checklist (introduce Chewy, check! Introduce Lando, check!), it was just a ball of disappointment.

@fuzzykb I can't dispute any of that. Maybe my expectations were so low after Last Jedi that I just didn't care.
And the TV shows have been, IMO, dissappointing. Even Ander, which I know people liked.

@vincent ... I think our Star Wars tastes just do not align.

@fuzzykb Yes! Far more important than some Disney IP.
