Wicked movie bad. Just watch the musical tbh (or better still, read the book).

There was a lot to complain about but the main thing sticking in my mind is the staggering lack of imagination in Defying Gravity.
They just have Elphaba floating there, stationary, like she does in the stage show! This works on stage because she's just gone up on a wire!!! It looks great visually and also it's physically impressive because the actress is belting at the top of her lungs while also hoisted into the air in a harness that compresses her lungs!!!! IT LOOKS LIKE GARBAGE IN A FILM.

The bigger criticism is that Elphaba wasn't nearly autistic enough. Entire film deathly allergic to the audience not finding Elphaba cool for a single second. She's pathetic!!!! She's overemotional!!!!!! She's cringe!!!!! This is vital to her characterisation, actually!!!!!!!

I did like Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth's cameo, though. It went on too long and they were noticeably way stronger singers than the leads. But it was cute and good and it made me happy. So. Points for that, I guess.
