Why isn’t The Warehouse here in NZ called the Wharehouse?

Or simply the Whare? Or better yet the Whare hokohoko?

@schweerelos At least in the contexts I've heard it, the intent has been honourable. But intent isn't magic and I don't recall if I've ever heard any Māori using it so 🤷‍♀️ yeah, guess I dunno.

@zeborah @schweerelos I just want everyone to use more Te Reo. And to not be offended when signs are in Te Reo, roads are named, government departments are named, etc.

I was so impressed after moving to NZ and having kids in early learning programs where they were learning Te Reo. Growing up in the US it is unimaginable that a Native American / First Nations language would be taught to everyone.
