Mental note to start packing my black vivid wherever I go again, so I can turn any "odd-looking" graffiti into windows etc.

Why are cabbages so giant? I've got two growing, and in pondering what to do with them I decided "I know, I can make a giant coleslaw, that'll deal with at least one of them."
Nope! A mere quarter of one (plus grated carrots) has almost filled a 2L container. I swear it wasn't that big on the outside!
So now I have more coleslaw than I can eat, and also 3/4 of a cabbage that I've no idea what to do with. (Let alone the one still in the garden....)

Three blackbirds squabbling on a roof in the drizzle. After a few bouts, they all hop away to different parts of the roof. If they were cats, they'd be assiduously licking themselves.

Thinking I'm so smart gluing golden thread onto chocolate Santas to make Christmas tree ornaments while watching a Youtube video in which Ann Reardon makes a cake in the form of a genuinely fully functional game of Operation.

Adding another 💉 to my profile. The pharmacist was impressed when she counted them, and I said yeah I'm doing whatever I can to avoid it. She agreed, "You've got to look after your health, no-one else will..."
(This was after I was so preoccupied with rain and umbrella that I somehow left home without my mask and only realised when I was at the pharmacy with no time to go back. Bludged a medical mask off them and adjusted as best I could, at least it was quiet in there and I got my own corner.)

My raspberry harvest this morning reached 400g (I hadn't been out since Wednesday evening I think). Breakfast, plus punnets to a couple of neighbours, plus more in the freezer.
Also the asparagus is still producing occasional surprise giant stalks. I'm never going to stop planting over-winter brassicas next to them, I don't know if it's specifically brassicas or the leafy shade in general, but the asparagus have never been happier since I started doing that.

All I wanted to know is if Mod Podge is essentially PVA(*) and I discovered that someone's got an entire fansite about Mod Podge. This feels very web-ring error internet to me so I felt obliged to share: https://modpodgerocksblog.com/
(*) Apparently it contains PVA but also other ingredients.

Ooh I think the chilli plant I'm growing to give to a friend for either Christmas or his February birthday might be developing a tiny baby chilli out of one of its first flowers.
The plant's in a pot which I've mostly kept inside for warmth, especially overnight, but have been taking outside on the assumption it needs help pollinating, so this feels like a sign that my efforts are paying off. 🤞

I use old boxes and old wrapping paper to make reusable gift boxes. I'm getting better at matching paper (plus have more options after years of collecting from workplace secret santas!) But this one adding in the front of an old Christmas card delights me more than anything I've done yet.
About 1.5hrs work while watching ice skating. Edges and joints are fiddly...

(It super flimsy actually but hopefully will keep out the tauhou etc as the raspberries are just starting to ripen..)
(Also hopefully the brat neighbour who tosses rubbish over that fence won't ruin it.)

Had the brilliant idea of turning my bedroom heatpump on to warm up the alarm batteries, and got another couple hours sleep, so now I can go buy a battery and hopefully con a sibling or someone into changing it for me.

I am sleepy and I hate changing smoke alarm batteries: my house has extra high ceilings so there you are perched on the step on your step ladder that you're not supposed to use, in the middle of the room so you can't even lean on a wall for extra support, reaching up towards something that may at any second do its level best to blow your eardrums out.
Also I don't have a spare battery (if it's the bedroom) or 10yr alarm (if it's the hall) anyway and the shops are shut because it's sleepytime.

tfw a piercing alarm wakes you up at 5:15am shrieking "TIME TO EVACUATE THE HOUSE BEFORE YOU DIE!!!!!!! or, uh, just. change a battery, plzthxbye"
and once you resuscitate your heart you're left going "Okay thanks I guess but is that the one in the hall or the one in the bedroom that the bloody earthquake repairers insisted I add for 'compliance' and 'safety' and 'blahblahblah'?"
and the piercing alarm is all "... I'll let you know at 2am tomorrow."
