Isn't it a requirement of using the Matrix protocol, that all changes and improvements also have to be restored and made public?
I am not familiar with the law and am asking out of interest.

@rumo They changed the license to AGPL last year, which does require this. However, they also require all external contributors to sign a CLA which gives them the rights to the contributed code. That way, they (and nobody else) can sell modified versions under a proprietary license without disclosing the extra changes they made to that version.
