It's interesting and a scientific "confirmation" of what one, unfortunately, experiences when moving from rural Netherlands to rural Denmark.

Maybe I missed it but there's another unaddressed fact against rural bicycling mobility:

Danish authorities (from forestry organizations to communities) give low priority to availability of existing rural infrastructure. An example is the cyclepath near us that has been submerged in water since January (requiring a four km alternative route over a dangerous road).

Unfortunately data sharing is also low. In OSM and government route planners this route is "open".

I've been in communication with Vejle kommune and the landowner for an embarrassingly long six months now about them at least putting up some signs pointing to an alternative route. While they quickly committed to the need for it, said they made some signs, they're still not up..

(the also submerged horse trail, a little loop, got signs though: done by the same department)
