New artist for me, but cool #Jungle and #DrumAndBass debut album with a bouncy but introspective emotional sound, looking forward to see where this artist goes in the future

A latecomer to my AOTY (found via someone here on Mastodon, can’t remember who though - sorry 😢), but this #Doom #ProgressiveMetal album is dripping with ‘middle eastern’ sounds (which I have a strong penchant for), with nifty guitar work and epic singing.

4. Muuntautuja - Oranssi Pazuzu (🇫🇮)

To continue with the weirdness, we have the #Psychadelic #BlackMetal I don’t really know what. Drones, atmospheric sounds, and then out-of-nowhere screaming. Was not expecting at first, but I love what they are doing if I don’t really know what it is.

It took 10 years, but sooo worth the way for this #Experimental #Electronic #NoiseRock. Complete utter high-tempo madness, but I love every second of the chaos.

2. Nothing. by Louis Cole, Metropole Orkest, Jules Buckley (🇺🇸)/🇳🇱)

Brilliantly composed ‘modern #Jazz’ tunes (used liberally here) from increasingly one of my favourite artists, with typical upbeat drum-and-bass-esque drums and lovely singing, but this time with a whole orchestra behind it. Lots of funky earworms in this one, only pushed from the Nr. 1 spot due to a few too many orchestra-only interludes to my liking.

1. Film Buff by Sløtface (🇳🇴)

Every single song on this #PopPunk #Rock album were huge earworms for me. While short at 30m but I had it on repeat for quite a few weeks and couldn’t get enough. Punchy but with a little bit of dynamism (the one almost-ballad having a tasty solo too).
