It has been 0️⃣ days since I wasted the best part of an hour trying to track down weird behaviour due to macOS suddenly deciding to get even more anal about permissions than it used to be (and also not bothering to tell me about this)

bonus weirdness: it was preventing TIC-80 from reading the sound input, but I did not fix it by granting permissions to TIC-80, and I'm not sure that's even possible!
No, I granted sound perms to Alacritty, because that's where I typed the command to launch TIC-80 - I guess perms are inherited from the parent process.
