I'm teaching my 5th graders how to use drills and drivers right now. We're going to build a greenhouse and grow some vegetables. I feel like the first proto-human who taught a child how to make a stone axe. This is better than AI. All the 'edtech thought leaders' telling me I need to integrate AI into my curriculum can shrivel up and blow away on the cold cyber wind of 'progress'. I will keep teaching kids to do real stuff and make the world a better place. #edu #teacher #maker #making #fablab

@TAV We have sewing in our curriculum too. It's a great way to teach design thinking. The first computer was a jaqcuard loom!

@rabbit_fighter @TAV Oh yes, jacquard looms are so cool 🥰
I sew only very rarely, but I did have fun with a collaborative project recently, where my mother provided the art work and let e use her sewing machine https://mastodon.scot/@gunchleoc/113169753137923961
Sewing does take some math and engineering skills. You also need math for knitting a simple sweater.
