I'm teaching my 5th graders how to use drills and drivers right now. We're going to build a greenhouse and grow some vegetables. I feel like the first proto-human who taught a child how to make a stone axe. This is better than AI. All the 'edtech thought leaders' telling me I need to integrate AI into my curriculum can shrivel up and blow away on the cold cyber wind of 'progress'. I will keep teaching kids to do real stuff and make the world a better place. #edu #teacher #maker #making #fablab

@LovingFalloutLondon1954 @rabbit_fighter In my era, they wouldn't let girls take industrial arts classes. I had to take cooking and sewing.

@rabbit_fighter @ELS @LovingFalloutLondon1954 In my school, everybody learned everything. So, the boys learned how to knot and sew with the girls, and the girls got to wield a hatchet, a rasp and a file along with the boys to craft a wooden ladle. I really don't get how schools in some countries make kids afraid of using knives as tools.
