Whelp, so it's released. What a rush.
Thinking back this might be the only game I've ever worked on where I've gotten to stay on to the finishing line. Before this I've always been moved on to something else during this period.
Shipping is something special indeed, and hopefully you'll enjoy the end product. We've poured a lot of love and effort into it

@joeldevahl Wow you worked on this??? It has been quite a while that I was was looking forward to a video game that much. The trailers look so fun. The last time I tossed the whip was when I was still at school in Emperor’s Tomb (which I loved). But I saw the system requirements. Will it run well on a RTX 2070? Or should I go and order a 7900xtx immediately 😅? Congrats on the launch! Cheers!

@pythno Thanks, and glad to hear you are excited!
A 2070 is just above min spec so it should work fine on a lower settings and with resolution scaling on, I have not personally tried the game on that specific HW though.

@joeldevahl Thanks! I will try it out and see how it goes. GPU prices are not exactly "welcoming" at the moment ;)
I was really sceptical with the 1st person approach but seeing more of the fist fights and gameplay I am really excited for this. German news outlet already says that "it is the Indy game we have always wanted", just to send you some positivity along: https://youtu.be/kktA_ZGJKKY :D

@pythno @joeldevahl
apparently your GPU needs at least 12GB of VRAM for it to be playable:

@Doomed_Daniel @joeldevahl Oh wow. Thanks for the info. Maybe it is possible to turn textures off and just use vertex colors? 😅

@pythno @Doomed_Daniel I think 8GB should be enough for non path tracing (which you probable should not be enabling on that card anyway).

@joeldevahl @pythno
Good to know!
Maybe the problem with ComputerBase's test was that they apparently didn't try the low detail preset

@Doomed_Daniel @joeldevahl @pythno The good news is that current gen games look pretty good still even with all the settings set to maximum potato. I'm not really sure if there's a good answer for "these settings are really not appropriate for your GPU", since people just expect everything to work flawlessly even if you enable PT and ray reconstruction on a 1660. :')

@Doomed_Daniel @joeldevahl @pythno Ironically we have a bit the opposite issue since we don't expose a texture pool size setting at all, and then people seem to struggle to understand sometimes why things all look blurry as hell. Plus, since we just use whatever vram is available for textures, when you launch on a 4090 it will chew a lot of vram. But people sometimes try to extrapolate that to mean it obviously won't work at all if you have less than 24gb of vram, which is ofc not true.

@joeldevahl Looking great, I see you're gunning for the Digital Foundry Graphics of the Year award with those flat frame time graphs!
