Some interesting thoughts swirling in our small goofy little neighborhood, as we've communicated abt a power outage & now intermittent cell service outage the last couple days.

There hasn't been the usual play by play flood of info/observations/inane speculation in FB groups, & some people are frustrated; why are people calling the utility & not sharing what they learn? Why are we reverting to insular group texts? A friend texted me, only 1/2 joking, bemoaning the loss of the hive mind (1/2)

"the hive is changing, it's ok," I said. But it's the first time i really noticed it in mainstream local discourse (by "mainstream" I mean like 75 people lol). People are just not messing w FB anymore.

I'd just gotten off a webinar abt book culture in the trump era, & one point made was that corporate social media is just not enjoyable or addictive anymore, so it's easier for folks to stay off it (& maybe read a book, or check out completely).

But I don't know where the local hive goes now.

@mivox oh that would be terrible, in part bc I don’t know wtf is going on here tech wise either. (Plus, I think I like to have a secret place of my own 😅)

I do wonder where the people who have only ever been on FB & it has become integral to their communication will go as it becomes more and more unusable…and while there’s a part of me inclined to make that my problem, I am doing my best to keep that part to myself lol
