The Fedora Project is looking for a new git forge to move to, and right now the preference is toward @forgejo over GitLab. We're looking for feedback one more time from the community before the Fedora Council has a vote on it!

Without knowing all the details needed for a replacement - the Fedora infrastructure is clearly a huge enterprise level one, considering all users and integrations across many systems - Forgejo surely seems like the better options any way.
Forgejo seems to be properly open source with core values being much closer to Fedora and Red Hat (who sponsors Fedora). And considering @Codeberg also being a nonprofit, open source focused organisation also sponsoring Forgejo and contributing to the development, matches also quite well into what Fedora does.
When Fedora teams starts contributing to Forgejo to implement the features missing, fixing issues they stumble across or which blocks them and so on ... That has potential to really grow Forgejo to what the vision for Pagure was. The difference being that Forgejo is already well established and has users outside Fedora today.
Red Hatters hopefully still carry the mission statement "to be the catalyst in communities of customers, contributors, and partners creating better technology the open source way." ... This is what Fedora can be in this scope. Being a catalyst in the communities, creating better [source hosting] technology the open source way.
I have really high hopes this can really work out.

@fedora @forgejo Forjeo seems to me to be a great choice of freedom and lightness. 👍🏻
It would have been great to have an alternative based on a community-driven language, like Python or Rust, but I don't know if they exist. 🤷♂️

@fedora @forgejo honestly, gitlab EE has better project management features. Features that I would love to see in forgejo some day.

@fedora was #sourcehut ever considered and if yes, why was it ruled out?
I think forgejo is a good choice, I'm just interested.

@fedora The list of reasons why Forgejo is the better choice wouldn’t fit in this post’s character limit, so. Yes, please migrate to Forgejo, let GitLab do its shenanigans elsewhere, and retire Pagure.
