@bydbach A while pub and hotel businesses in Beddgelert were under threat because nobody who'd work for that low pay could live there anymore and a cut to bus services meant the carless couldn't get there to work either.

I despair how government is still proud of pushing a narrative that tourism contributes about 5 per cent to the national economy, but conveniently never mentions that 12 per cent of the working population are employed in the industry. It's not so great a narrative when you'd have to admit that the majority of employees only work on seasonal, part-time minimum income.

@rhysw a few years back someone tried to spin it in a tourism report that the hospitality sector is the one with the most diverse work force. That's one way of saying that people of colour can't get a decent job with a good income in other industries in Wales.
