Java's "write once, run anywhere" wasn't quite right. The point is "build once, run anywhere" (which could also apply to platforms that run from source without building). Even now, I can use raylib or SDL or Godot or ... to write once, run anywhere, but you need to make different builds for these.

@contextfree Say what you want about the JVM platform, but dling development there’s no other platform I’ve consistently had more success trying to use third party libraries and having it actually work.

This is in contrast to for example C++, where it’s difficult to the point that for someone like me C++ might as well not have the ability to use third party libraries at all.

Not that everything is great with JVM, but I feel it deserves a little more credit.
