Yep, the rich get richer n not willing to share.
A lot of people say Trump is the main problem (note he is a problem), but the rich are the true enemies of the common man.
(Also note that Trump is rich and currently the front man of the rich.)

There's no point in hoarding what you're not gonna spend. Currency has value only when it's in circulation; when it's hoarded, it's only paper.

Not discounting or pointing fingers at anyone ... yet, thinking that perhaps the larger problem is with the definition of "wealth." What do humans value and why? How did it come to be that desire and want superseded need?

@VeroniqueB99 @Amy_C_T_Serrat It depends on the society you keep, as it happens. Billionaires that keep other billionaires company are going to value wealth of course AND seek to be envied by millionaires...and everybody else. They feed on envy, real or imagined. People who are happy with other values are still happy, and billionaires can't understand that, preferring to think everybody who isn't them is unhappy and envying them--which is why ego goes with the territory. Delusions as well.

@ditol @VeroniqueB99 The world wealth increase since 1970 https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/global-gdp-over-the-long-run?time=1970..latest
And with the population https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/world-population-by-year/ we get that the average wealth has doubled.
As for the top .1% wealthiest there doesn't seem to be an easily accessible number, but if we just check non-royalty/dictator/organized crime billionaires they increased their wealth from 1 to 14 trillion from just Y2K to this year https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World%27s_Billionaires?wprov=sfla1
So I'm giving it a "not perfect" score, but it's in the ball park.

Thomas Piketty identified (in Capital in the 21st Century) that capitalism only congregates wealth away from creatives and labourers into the hands of the already very wealthy.
He used a 200 year dataset to demonstrate this. Those 'economists' who talked of "trickle down" used an entirely post WW2 dataset, and confused the mobility created by the war for the trickling down of wealth.
