From the ar(t)chive...

One of several intro artworks from the computer game The Settlers 2 (1996). I first created a pencil sketch, scanned it, and then added the colors in Photoshop on a PC.

The in-game artworks for the actual game were created on an Amiga 2000 using Deluxe Paint.

Before anyone asks (again): All artworks and animations for the game were hand-pixeled with a traditional PC mouse—no 3D was used.

@metin Thank you Metin. I loved Populous on the Amiga. One of the best first "realtime strategy" games ever! 🙂

@CWernerArt Wondering if one could find a working emulatied copy of deluxe paint nowadays. Never seen anything with the same combo of easy to use even for kids and ultra powerful pixelartistery.

@KarlHeinzHasliP There’s even a DOS version of Deluxe Paint if I remember correctly, or you could use an Amiga version in an emulator like UAE. A bit of work to set up but works nicely.
