I know of my local activism ecosystem but my criticism is that while they perform a needed service they don't do anything that the progressive churches which came before them didn't do.

Not talking about revolution, but things like tenants union more salting workplaces, and changing the image of food distribution as somthin everyone in the community can give and take from of their needs and ability vs just a food pantry but in the park.

My cynicism has a lot of specifics I can't share tho

@Ananas no worries on specifics and apologies in advance if these are anodyne suggestions..

i've found a lot of folks at local bike meetups and food pantry events that have led me to find other folks working towards the same things.

i've ended up teaching maybe a quarter of those folks to shoot and taken them to their first range day and given away a bunch of pepperspray cans and pointed people to good resources.

i don't know if it's enough, but knowing three dozen folks i could call to show up to a protest is better than nothing, i hope.

@Ananas like.. i have a lot of skills and i've done a bunch of things, and sometimes i feel like i'm flailing around lawn-sprinlklering around whatever skills i have..

but then sometimes i get an email from someone i talked to seven years ago who tells me how they were able to get out of their rental situation in a decent way because they knew tenants rights existed or someone drained half a can of spray on a potential attacker and got away...

and, i don't know

it feels like it's something. there's so few wins and none of it feels good. most of it feels like work and effort and no gains.

i feel like i have to keep givin' 'er, cause i don't really know what else i got.
