I mean - I'm not a sociologist, but I read the review twice and I'm not really sure what the problem was. The book's by a clean energy advocate and the subtitle is "Revitalizing America’s Hometowns through Clean Power" - if I wanted to read about "rural identities, literacies, and ideologies," I would probably pick a different book.

@kdnyhan oh I think it's scholarly territorial defense; seeing an advocate's work encroaching on a bailiwick and beating them back with a stick. I'm not defending the practice, just noting that it's a common response. something like "here's all the things you're talking about that you nonetheless don't know".
