Thanksgiving through Christmas is now "that time of year" when I have to justify asking people to rapid test while they look at me incredulously and say "well I've had covid and don't have any lingering health issues" and then I end up looking like a hypochondriac as I sit by a cracked-open window because I thought everyone would test but then someone shows up unexpectedly without testing.

I hate this timeline.

@ShePersisted If it were my house I'd have them test in the foyer before entering the rest of the house, but when it's someone else's house I don't have that authority. I wouldn't even attend unless everyone first agreed to test - and it's a small enough gathering to get everyone on board in the first place - but I can't control if other people have drop-in guests!

Oh god. I am waiting for that moment when I just very rudely put my mask back on after everyone agreed to test but someone drops by unexpectedly.

@fritzoids Right?!? I always have extra masks in my purse but in the moment, when I'd already been made to feel like a weirdo for insisting on testing, I gave in to that peer pressure feeling & didn't want to give them more ammunition. 😪 Everyone there was family & the pressure is stronger. I think if it were friends, and the drop-in guest was a stranger or even acquaintance, maybe I would have masked up. Anyway, even opening the window was a statement, one person pointedly put on their coat. 😬
