SETUP:

• connect wallet via oauth (Strike or Alby)

PAYMENTS:

• generate payment event (many libraries to make this easy)

• request bolt11 invoice

• pay bolt11 invoice

@merryoscar Fountain operates from a server and all that network calls come almost for free. On a mobile only app that's a completely different thing. And each different call might fail for a number of reasons, and you have to retry, up to a point, and fail gracefully, and coordinate payments and messages…

@merryoscar one more thing… the lnaddress might be two different things, that have the exact same format and no way to tell them apart, other than making one, or two network calls to see if one of them exists. And retry if network call fails, and caching, and misconfigurations of servers… This is what I call over-complicating.

@merryoscar I understand this might be necessary, and I love you and I'm greatful for your efforts trying to provide a solution. I just don’t like hearing we are not over-complicating. We are so distant from the simplicity of podcasting: one xml file and a bunch of mp3s. And probably that was a big part of the success of podcasting. @dave

@francosolerio @merryoscar @dave well said. This is almost at the point where you can’t have a standalone mobile app. You need a server to handle this logic. Unfortunately I think we’re a long way off from this stuff being something that is easy to build in a mobile app.

@rademaker @francosolerio @merryoscar Thanks for laying out the various headaches. I have a lot of thoughts swirling in my head about this. Like Oscar, I need to think it over. Hot takes aren't very helpful at this point.
