I have spent some time over at #bluesky recently... only on some days did I block someone. In contrast, today I blocked like a dozen accounts. Likely that the shiftless #MAGA bullies are invading now, since they chased many of their favorite victims off Melon Husk Social. We shall see if bsky is resistant or if it rapidly goes under. I am not hopeful, but would love to be surprised.

@opalmirror The blsky nuclear blocking strategy is a bit of a mixed blessing. It seems extremely effective at keeping malcontents from gaining any sort of traction, but it also means I can't see the already-blocked malcontents to add them to my block lists. Shifts control and agency from individual to community which makes this individual a little uneasy. Fingers crossed.

@gomijacogeo I agree it has pros and cons. It does give the OP the chance to forbid someone to post on their threads, but as you say, also conceals who was being so awful as to deserve it. Personally, I think I prefer it as it reduces the reach of disruptive people and allows OPs to impair their spread, but the jury's still out. I think the nuclear block is a direct response to Jack Dorsey's plaint with Twitter staffing huge centralized moderation rather than enabling the community to do it.
