I am going to Newbury Comics in Norwood MA. Aiming to arrive between 5a and 6a for an 8a opening. Hoping to get the Sun Ra in Baltimore, and the Sixpence None The Richer Christmas album (my personal favorite xmas album of all time). My daughter (who says she is going to get up and come with me) wants the Billie Eilish.

@tonymasiello @vinylrecords although I don’t particularly miss Massachusetts, I DO miss Newbury Comics.
I’m always sure to hit at least one every time I’m back there, though it’s not quite how it was in the #90s

@TheVinylApe2 @vinylrecords I have a love/hate relationship with them. They are the only decent option around me without going into the city, but their prices have become insulting, especially for RSD.

@tonymasiello @vinylrecords I don’t doubt that one bit.

@TheVinylApe2 @tonymasiello @vinylrecords I used to drive by that Norwood store while commuting for like 8 years. So I’d stop by a couple times a week. At least at the time they had a newly discounted/new arrivals section and that’s where the best bargains were to be found. They were pretty good about marking down stock that wasn’t moving. I got some great records there. But that was 6 years ago so I don’t know if they still do that.

@puffer @tonymasiello @vinylrecords in the times I have visited on trips back home over the past 17 years, it didn’t look like they do.
They come off more like a glorified toy store now, but Ive found records sitting on shelves that shouldn’t have been with old tags that were long out of print, which is always odd.
The Harvard Square store at the Garage and the one in I think Natick were always good for that.
They’ll never be what they were in #90s

@TheVinylApe2 @puffer @vinylrecords The mall locations are definitely on the toy store side. The best locations for vinyl are Norwood, which is a large, stand-alone store, and Newbury Street, which has the bulk of the basement dedicated to vinyl. At least for the ones I have visited.
