@JoeGrowling The problem with that is that most people only look at their immediate circumstances. They've got the social equivalent of a horse's blinders on.
"Persecute millions, people will die" doesn't register as a result. But "my latest electronic gizmo will shoot up in price" will register plenty.
So if your goal is to turn people against the fascist about to kill people, weirdly focusing on stuff that's trivial by comparison is probably the winning strategy.

@zdl on the other hand, I doubt you would find many of the people in the immediate direct firing line, like trans folks or the undocumented, who are stressed by the threat of higher priced gas.
Being concerned about the economics of the threat is the luxury of the privileged.
