Why is working with the WordPress Block Editor such a terrible engineering experience?
Am I just bad at it?

@paulshryock it.. takes a lot of getting used to. I was used to the old style. But here we are with blocks 🙄😂

@jake4480 blocks aren't even the problem, it's anything else... meta boxes, customizing the block editor in any way... like forget using hooks and fight WordPress with all you've got to get it to do anything useful. That has been my experience with it. Need to add a single button to trigger some custom functionality? "You must want the button block." No. Just a button in the sidebar to trigger a network call. The hoops I've had to jump through just for that is mind boggling.

@paulshryock wow. Yeah, it's really bizarre. I guess these companies always want to try and standardize or improve things when maybe it isn't even needed, and it doesn't end up making it better or more functional.
