@owlnewworlds Hi, I saw you like my post this morning on the mobile game I'm working on, and I've been following your progress (and release!) of nokoma, congratz!
I'm wondering if you have any resources on marketing a game for mobile? And how to make a great mobile game?
Most of the resources I've seen are targetted at steam games, which I'd love to make, at some point, but I like the fact that you can play a mobile game on the go ;)

@magopian Hi Mathieu! Thank you <3 well, sadly, I don't have any resources about marketing on mobile. Like you, I've read many things about marketing on Steam but nothing about mobile games. I wish Nokoma would be more famous ^^' so I'm trying to talk about it on social media, I even tried Tiktok and YT but it doesn't work... I think that for mobile games we need to find content creators to talk about the game (didn't find any yet ^^')

@owlnewworlds oh that sucks, i'm sorry that your game isn't more known :( It's fun, and very well polished!
I'm also impressed by all the work you put in for the achievements, and the leaderboard, i'm curious about those, did you use a third party service or something?
I have a small feedback if you're interested: it's sometimes a bit frustrating to not be able to click on numbers faster, I guess it's waiting for the end of the animation to allow you to click on another number?

@magopian Haha thank you :) for leaderboards and achievements I'm using Google and Apple stuff and I'm using a plugin to make the calls ^^
Yes it waits for the end of the animation to allow the next split ^^' is that really bothering you?

@owlnewworlds ah nice, i'll have a look at those "google and apple stuff" ;)
The fact that it waits for the end of the animation makes it feel somewhat unresponsive, and prevents me from "executing a plan I've thought about" as I've imagined it, adding what feels like an artificial limitation (eg: divide this one, then this one, then BAM combo, which gets changed to "divide this one, wait, then this one, wait, then BAM combo)

@magopian when you create your app in the google play console or in the app store connect websites, there is specific pages to create and publish leaderboards and achievements. It's pretty easy but it's just very annoying and tedious haha then in your game, you just need to make API calls and that's it.
I will look into how I can make it a little more responsive but don't want to create bugs lol

@owlnewworlds Not sure which game engine you're using, in Godot I would tween.stop
or stop the animation player on any touch event, not sure if this helps?

@magopian Yes, I'm using Godot ^^ Never thought about stopping current tween on touch. I will try this and also see if I can "not wait" the animation as long as the datas are ok :)

@owlnewworlds do you aussi use google and apple services for the ads? Are they worth it ? I havenβt thought of monetisation yet

@magopian I'm using google service for ads "AdMob" you can create Android and iOS ids to use the service in both apps.
Does it worth it? It's hard to tell but I think it does. Hard to tell because 1) I'm not agressive with ads I guess I could earn more with more ads and 2) the game is played every day (which is great!) but like we said earlier, Nokoma is not very known...

@magopian That being said, as an example I've made around $3 in October. It's not much but with the very small amount of players, it's amazing in fact. If I make some math, it'd definitely worth it with more players ^^
For monetization, I also plan to add an in-app purchase to remove ads :) and if the game is ever released on Steam or Switch I think it won't be free there.
