I was finally able to kill my first #Factorio #SpaceAge #Demolisher! I unloaded 1000 explosives and 100 rocket turrets on #Vulcanus. We don't have access to sulfur on Vulcanus to craft explosives, hence why I brought some.
Once on Vulcanus, I built plain rockets and made a blueprint with a rocket turret that has 10 rockets in it. I spammed 100 of them. Then, I attacked a Demolisher with poison and destroyer capsules.
The fight ended in 10s. Yay!

In the end, I was a bit underwhelmed. The fight barely lasted 10 seconds, and 10 rocket turrets would have been sufficient. 10 destroyer capsules (50 follower bots) and constant spamming of poison capsules and a few rockets were all it took.
Anyway, demolishers are a major threat, unless you have the right equipment.

It was a DPS check for me too. Vulcanus is my first extra planet. So no rocket turret.
I went in with tank and normal cannon ammo. I could not dodge the area effet of it's lava damage.I understood I was not even scratching the worm once I saw the regen mechanism... Despite 2k damage per shot.
Then came back with damage level7 + uranium tank ammo. It was like 7k per shot.
Worm died in 10sec and 10 shots.
Really underwhelming fight.

@tuxicoman yeah, Demolishers are either overpowered or underpowered; it looks like there's no middle ground where they're almost even with us and the fight will be long, protracted, and difficult.
It must be really difficult to balance this aspect of the game.
Anyway, Vulcanus may not be my first planet in a future run.
