@krinkle @muan I was there when we just had JavaScript and we fought internet explorer with everything we had. Mootools was the new, shiny thing and we used to figure everything out from scratch. We compressed everything with Yui compressor and it was fun.
Nowadays, we have the same kind of issues, devs make the same mistakes, we work with ACID compliance and without IE, but with a dependency hell on npm and the like. And pages take ages to load because JS alone is 10MB

@krinkle @muan This part is the best, IMO: ”One should not need to have npm installed in the first two months of your web development bootcamp, despite what the industry perpetuates. I am disappointed that our once open and low barrier entry to web development was raised so unncessarily and arbitrarily high that we don’t even know exactly what we are serving to users.”
I agree. So much sprinkling of JavaScript on the web. Use it, but on a strict budget. Be mindful.
