I wonder how historians will write about the US in 1000 years, will Trump be compared to Caligula, a sign of the end ?

TBH, I don't believe that there will BE historians in 1000 years.
My models all suggest we've missed all the "tipping points," and our imminent demise.
I think in a few tens or hundreds of million years, some other species will be making theories about the "plastic layer," and "sudden die-off" in the fossil record.
All this climate catastrophe is happening in the "blink of an eye" in geological timescales.
Again, I must stress I am neither a climatologist, nor a mathematician.

@paninid @BlippyTheWonderSlug I think it’s inevitable we will virtualize our consciousnesses, living only as ‘spirits’ in some kind of universal computer. It’s the only solution to so many problems - we want to live forever, overpopulation, traveling faster than the speed of light (why not just slow down our virtual consciousness instead?). Question is if we will survive long enough to be able to do that, or if we even want to.
