The media has been reporting that #Trump won a landslide #election. #Republicans are claiming that his popular vote win means that he has a big mandate. Did you know that Trump has won under 51% of the popular vote, while Biden won over 51% in 2020. Their electoral college margin is very similar, with the exception of 7 votes from North Carolina.

Democrats are now vigorously debating what they got wrong, as they should. This time in 2020, #Republicans were plotting to overturn the results. 1/n

This is the big difference between the two parties. There are plenty of things wrong with the #Democrats. The Democratic party establishment doesn't represent me well. But when they lose elections, they play by the rules of the democratic process, instead of stoking violence at the Capitol.

The #GOP has no such commitment to the rules. They like to call themselves the party of Law and Order, but they only mean law and order that constrains other marginalized peoples, not themselves. 2/n

In the Trump era, conservatives have given up on the rule of law and fully adopted the fascist idea of might is right.

The left has its share of conspiracy theorists who are questioning the results, but they don't get air time on high-visibility platforms. Podcasters and influencers on the left don't platform the crazies. As wrenching as the last week has been, the left has come to terms with its defeat in this election. That is healthy.

The right, OTOH, has given up on democracy. 3/n

When they lose, the #right refuses to believe that they lost. They have created an echo chamber that is impervious to the truth. At times of political loss, the person who comes up with the craziest conspiracy theory that tells that they actually won becomes famous and makes money. Even if the theory involves Hugo Chavez, Italian satellites or bamboo content in ballots. Their biggest influencers platform the craziest theories.

If Kamala had instead prevailed on 11/5 by the same 51-48 margin, Trump would not have conceded the race by today, forget about doing it last Wednesday.

"The game is only fair if I win it" is not a fair game. This is a disastrous setup for America.
