Any GMs out there doing anything clever with random tables?
I’ve got books full of them, but they’re out of sight, out of mind a lot of the time. I’m thinking of compiling them all in Obsidian and using a die roller plugin. Maybe they’ll get more use that way.

@Ashigaru Mostly #worldbuilding - when it comes to building settings and campaigns, I take any inspiration I can get. And random tables are a useful addition that gets the brain juices flowing.

@juergen_hubert Agreed. It’s also interesting when the tables add elements I probably wouldn’t choose on my own.

@Ashigaru It's not exactly a random table, but I found it makes a huge difference to merely determine the gender of an NPC randomly.

@juergen_hubert I like it! Bring on the lady blacksmiths.

@Ashigaru I noticed at some point that I had a tendency to create far more male than female NPCs - some kind of subconscious bias. Determining their gender randomly was an easy fix.

@juergen_hubert I’ve noticed published adventures tend to be pretty heavy on male NPCs. Randomly determining gender generally shouldn’t break anything.
