It's tragic. Any time I'm faced with a potential big change in life, I get a strong urge to start up a new gamedev project. It's the worst timing, and it's perfectly predictable.
Also funny, I always toss out a few resumes on a lark, but another part of me says "no, you won't be happy working for anyone else." Simultaneously, I can't help but feel I won't finish anything if it's just up to me.
It's just chaos in here, I guess.

@Jeffool I could have written that post myself a while ago. As a fellow freelance game developer who also makes games by himself both commercially (with help from a colleague) and as a hobby, why don't you start with small projects or make small games in gamejams? Would prove to you that you can actually make and finish games. Most games in my profile are like that! (See examples here https://playmedusa.itch.io/)
