After a few years I installed XCOM: Enemy Unknown from Steam. It's a 12 years old game.

After a few hours of playing (in multiple sessions) suddenly my recent save files were gone. I guess it was a Steam Cloud glitch because earlier ones are there and work.

And then Steam updated itself.

Then it probably updated the game.

Now when I try to start the game it gets stuck in the "Updating executable" state.

WTF.
