Words cannot express how mad and frustrated I am with modern flat UI design where signifiers are missing and you have to fucking GUESS what you can do with elements and just try to randomly press and swipe on things just to see if something happens. What. The. Actual. Fuck. Is wrong with UI designers these days? Have they not read Donald Norman?

@macberg Preach it, brother. Preach it!
P.S.: The designers who commit that kind of #IxD crimes also haven’t read their Cooper, Shneiderman, Tog, etc. Unfortunately, it's too easy to read all those short snippets of design tips online than actually dive into, and then actually work through a solid design book. sigh

@jochenwolters I don't know who those other people are, but I'm not a UI/UX designer so I hope that's ok. 😅 But seing giants like Google and Microsoft make problematic UIs like this is beyond frustrating. And equally frustrating is it to see users wanting no signifiers because it "looks cleaner". 🤦

@macberg Depending on what overall software applications you use, you might find it interesting to compare Big Tech products with those from indie and boutique developer shops.
Software has become a commodity and consumer product, and the big guys have to come up with all kinds of “ideas” to keep the growth happening so their stockholders are happy.
Smaller devs IMHO tend to focus much more on what works, and they simply don’t have time to build gimmicky crap.
