Web browsers are impossible for ordinary humans to understand, part one million
Login.gov is a well-built, simple website, with clear, explanatory text that is wrong.
On recent versions of the world's most popular web browser, there is no https:// and no 🔒 lock visible anywhere (unless you know to click the weird no-name button to the left of the domain name)

@jamiemccarthy Ah, that header is from the U.S. Web Design System, used on bajillions of government websites. It’s run on a shoestring budget, with, last I checked, 1 FTE. Open a pull request or a new issue! Browsers have shifted since that text was approved, nearly a decade ago. https://github.com/uswds/uswds

@waldoj Love it! Thanks for pointing me to this! I'll see if I can submit a PR soon
(To be clear, my complaint was aimed at the shifting browser UX, and not the website or its framework)

@jamiemccarthy Agreed with the complaint but also the text needs to be updated! I’ve seen that text for years and at no point did it register that the shift of HTTPS adoption had rendered that warning outdated and confusing.
