What's that thing where every conversation turns to Hitler?

That's just happened me when someone started talking about kids identifying as cats. Apparently my "who's it hurting" comment prompted the reply "can someone identify as Hitler as long as they aren't hurting anyone?"

@daveybot that's the one. He started going on about how they use litter trays and I had to point out that although I believed that was dispelled, I wouldn't be surprised if some had taken it to that extreme due to the amount of publicity it had all garnered.

The kids are acting out and exploring a loop hole. Future furries possibly. Alone in their wish to be not human? Definitely not. Just they are doing it publicly instead of hiding like the rest all have done, up til now.

@intheseheels and yes, iirc the whole litter box thing is pretty roundly debunked. Typically it’s trotted out as a sort of ‘slippery slope’ logical argument by those who don’t wish to understand the issues they’re actually fearful of but don’t really want to admit it.

…but it’s also the kind of explanation which many who raise the idea in the first place would rather not read. Gaah!

@intheseheels I don't think there has ever been a debate online that has ever resulted in either contestant's favour, just a bunch of yapping at one another. If a person has a belief or ideology it's practically impossible to make them sway in the other direction.
