It'd be amazing if, after this US election, the "Republican" party splits into MAGA and whatever's left of relatively normal conservatives.
the new party would be more centrist; folks like Joe Manchin and Adam Kinzinger etc would feel comfortable there.
After a cycle of muddledness I think it would be clarifying. Dems could shift left, "Centrists" can be in the center, and MAGA will stop being conflated with right-of-center politics.
ANYHOW, this is bullshit.

@draNgNon Yup...that wasn't a threat, it was a standard Democrat talking point. Among party voters at least, if not their leadership...
Democrats ain't moving left. They'll literally dissolve the party to prevent that:

The core and foundation of the Dems is capital -- the wealth of both their leadership and their donors. And that capital won't allow them to move left. What we need is a new party that's actually on the left. The Dems have been a right-wing party for decades now (if not always...I'm not sure they ever truly moved past the center during the party flip) -- and they're only moving further in that direction. They will be the ones taking the place of the GOP once MAGA tears it apart. They're already moving towards that with all the GOP endorsements.
They're also probably pretty confident that, thanks to their reputation as America's mainstream left, that they can move as far to the right as they want without fear of any legitimate challenge from the left. I think they will find they are mistaken on that though...
