Here I go testing web browsers again. Today I'll be checking out the Firefox based Zen Browser.

I'm already liking it 🥳 it has a Workspaces feature (Still in beta) and allows me to sign into the same website using different profiles.
I like this, and it was probably the only thing keeping me with Arc browser.
Now I can have very clearly defined workspaces with pinned tabs dedicated to each project, all in one window 👌
I can't currently switch between them with a two-finger swipe on the trackpad... but I guess that gives me reason to learn some more keyboard shortcuts :)

Well, I've liked it enough to make the switch properly 🥳
While Arc is comfortable for me, the sudden announcement to effectively sunset this browser doesn't really make me want to stick around.
Moving over will be a pain, there is no nice way to export all those tabs I've accumulated...

🤦
Edit: The facepalm is on me, because it turns out I could just paste the entire batch into the Zen Browser bookmark manager 👌

@christian yeah I was really impressed by Zen as well when I tried it. Sadly it didn’t seem to have “overlay” tabs (Shift + Click on a link), which is what I like most about Arc.

@amxmln
I swear I didn't know about that feature until just now 🤣 , I've just been Ctrl+Click'ing links like a chump.
A nice feature indeed, safe to say though I won't miss it as I just discovered it 😅

@christian cool, I've been using it for about a week now, best browser I've come across in a long time.

@christian Vivaldi is really good

@cferdinandi It is and I can see the appeal.
I tried Vivaldi not too long ago but it didn't quite click for me.
I think mostly it was because it was missing this Workspace concept I like so much.
Where I can have dedicated group of tabs, or be logged into the same websites under different profiles, all in the same window for quick switching.

@christian what happened with Arc?
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from jackabox@mas.to
@jackabox The Browser Company decided to go build a new product focused around AI, and won't be developing Arc further than some stability and security patches over time.

Felt like a good time for me to try some alternatives :)

@christian I'm using it as well. I'm a Firefox user anyway so its an easy switch, but also the fact it's not Chromium based is a big plus anyway for me!

@keir Nice! I'm actually now torn between this one and Vivaldi (Chromium tho) 😅
Once I let go of the requirement to have per-workspace profiles like Arc, I figured I'd give Vivaldi another go today.
Not sure where I'll end up now... both have their strengths. But the looming Manifest V3 breaking extensions thing will likely weigh a heavy part of that decision if I come to it.

@christian Manifest V3 is definitely a thing to keep in mind. I think Vivaldi was bought out by some Chinese firm wasn’t it? I’m wary on the data front if I am remembering that correctly!

@christian ahh seems I’m getting confused with Opera on that. That was a shame they got snapped up by a Chinese company tho
