Started with the gathering personal papers and records, under the bed, bedroom drawers, garage.
Elders come together for the mapping exercise. Survey and labeling. People involved enjoy the community coming together to do this work.
4 years just to map place names of southern alps area. Whole of south island is the goal. Elder advised that it's okay, we will do it bit by bit. No rush.
Not just mapping, visit the areas as well.

Kā huru Manu recognised by the New Zealand Gazetteer. If no Pākehā names, place name in kā huru manu would be The official name. Full fledged GIS system. People love it! ♥️❤️
