Dunno where "here" is for you.
But in Germany, it was 20C, as well.
And I distinctly remember how we used to celebrate sister's birthday on Oct 28th and often spent an evening in a beer garden during our visit in either Cologne or Augsburg. Because it used to get warm once more by the end of October, a short Indian summer after a colder autumn period

I'm way west of you on the east coast of Canada. Typically this time of year it's at or below 10°. It's not uncommon to have snow flurries. Children often wear winter clothing under their costumes while trick-or-treating.
Today it's 21°.

Global weirding.
This shows how a jetstream tongue lapped South to California and then went straight to Canada on Oct 19

Also shows a narrow European jetstream filament coming from Morocco straight up to the German Baltic coast where I live.
Dunno if the jet is supposed to meander this much this late in the year over North America.
In Germany, it certainly did so before 2005 when we often sat in beer gardens around Oct 28th. Don't have special memories of Oct 28 in Germany after 2005.
