Head of the University of Salamanca, Spain, gets 75 (!!!) papers retracted for manipulating citations. The practice was uncovered last year, before he was elected head of the uni.
Still, he got the position.
After several external reports confirming the practices, two articles in Science denouncing the case, and the retractions by Springer, he still holds the position. However, it was 75 conference papers with manipulated citations to increase the author's bibliometrics artificially. Largest scandal in Spanish science system so far.
