Looking at moving off Wordpress to a static site generator and most of them seem to involve:

• Markdown (just give me a GUI and a quick way to add pictures please)

• An unhinged set of Ruby dependencies

• An encyclopaedic knowledge of Git

• You still have to FTP the output somewhere

@alexlomas I was never happier than when my website was static HTML hand-written in a text-editor, run through tidy.exe, uploaded by FTP, and a little collection of Perl scripts for automating that.
