It's a bit damp.https://www.es.govt.nz/environment/flood-warning
It's going to stay damp overnight and get positively wet at times tomorrow.
There isn't any decent collated info. yet that I can find about the state of roads in Southland, but from various sources it looks like northern Southland - Waikaia and (unusually) Mossburn are copping a lot of it. The lower Mataura is also (as usual) acting up and covering the usual Fleming and Holz roads.

@Daveosaurus
I was looking for Southland stories earlier and there's not much available.
But wanna see rain? We have rain. This is just north of Dunedin.

@BobLefridge to be fair, you're getting all the news stories because you're getting by far the worst weather. I'm not growling about Stuff or the ODT not covering it - I'm growling about the ES, SDC and GDC info being a bit piecemeal and the ICC still thinking "flooding? what flooding?"

@Daveosaurus
Point taken.
I was speaking to a friend in Lumsden earlier and they have big puddles but no flooding yet.

@BobLefridge In Lumsden they're probably going to want to be watching the river levels, but almost all the township is a bit elevated - it's mainly sports fields, the camping ground and a new development west of the centre of town that are likely to be in most danger. There's a stopbank north of the town that looks designed to nudge the Oreti away if it gets too high (although I don't know how sound it is any more - I think someone rescued some old railway rolling stock from it...)

@Daveosaurus
Tomorrow will be interesting in multiple locations.
Now it's definitely time for bed. Night all!
