Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish new year) starts on Wednesday evening. This, from the UK Movement for Reform Judaism's 2024 machzor for RH, is perhaps my favourite entry in any prayerbook ever.

@cjwatson I love that you have a favourite paragraph of the prayer book. Especially the one that's only been out a few weeks (although IIRC this particular excellent paragraph was in the draft)

@cjwatson Is it a spoiler if I quote a snippet from YK Musaf? Because: "Sometimes kiddush ha-shem is understood as simply affirming in public the holiness of God's name, which is already holy. But a deeper theology might take it that God's Name Itself becomes still more holy when human beings act to affirm the teachings of what holy action is. A still deeper theology might even say that we and our own names are part of Sh'mei Rabba -- the Great Name -- and that the Name Itself becomes still greater and more holy (yitgaddal v'yitkadash) when we act in holy ways, lighting up our own names in fiery letters as part of the Great Name"
